The McLaren F1 is a sports car designed and built by Gordon Murray and McLaren Automotive. On 31 March 1998, she set the record for the fastest production car in the world, 240 mph (391 kph). From April 2009, the F1 of only four other production vehicles will be exceeded in sheer speed, but is still the fastest naturally aspirated production car.

It is lighter and has a tighter structure and most of its modern rivals and competitors, despite a seat more than most similar sports car with the driver’s seat in the middle. It has a powerful motor and is a little track-oriented, but not to the extent that it compromises practicality and comfort. It was as an exercise in creating what the designers hoped would be designed as the ultimate road car.
Despite not designed with such a track machine, won a modified race car version of the vehicle several races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, where a purpose-built prototype race cars. Production began in 1992 and ended in 1998. A total of 106 vehicles were produced, with some variations in design.
In 1994, the British car magazine Autocar in road tests, said of the F1, “The McLaren F1 is still the best driving machine for use on public roads built.” and that “the F1 as one of the great events in the history of the car will remain in memory, and it can possibly see is the fastest production road car in the world ever.
